In 1876 the Carson Hot Springs was discovered by Isadore St. Martin. After his spouse, Margaret, found relief from neuralgia by using the springs, word spread rapidly to those looking for relief from their own health issues. Carson Hot Springs Resort has been in operation since 1892. The St. Martin Hotel was constructed on the site in 1901. This hotel still is open for reservations and refreshments.

The Victorian-era hotel and bathhouse that features a regimen of therapeutic hot mineral baths reminiscent of old European spas. It's not a luxury spa experience, but most visitors love this historic Victorian-era hotel and the quirky atmosphere of the bathhouse. The resort follows the old European style of taking the mineral waters. The hot springs emerge from the banks of the Wind River at 136 F and cool to around 126 F by the time they reach the bathhouse. The soaking tubs can be adjusted to any comfortable bathing temperature.

Nestled in a mountainous setting in the Columbia Gorge, the resort offers 28 new rooms onsite, massage and mineral bath soaks and wraps. Hiking, white water rafting tours and fishing tours are easily arranged for guests. A golf course and restaurant are also available.
