Thunderbolt Designs has been around as a freelance business in some form or other since 1992. Originally Thunderbolt Communications, and then Thunderbolt Graphic Designs, the company was established with the idea of creating marketing resources for small to medium-sized businesses and non-profit organizations. Today, Thunderbolt Designs is also working to expand the reach of small business to the internet, and to educate people about smart marketing techniques to help their business grow.

I am a professional graphic designer with over 25 years of experience in advertising and marketing. I have worked with businesses at all levels - retail, wholesale and manufacturing, as well as with several non-profit and government agencies. My experience in the printing industry gives me a unique edge in graphic design to take advantage of the capabilities of 2-color or 4-color presses. My understanding of print production standards and postal regulations means that each job keeps cost-efficiency in mind, resulting in a project that is on budget and on time. I've tackled the job of becoming a web designer to provide an avenue for small to medium-sized businesses in the Columbia Gorge to access the power of the internet, to be a bridge of communication between local business owners and the wealth of resources available to help them thrive, and to provide information about this incredible area through my own website www.A2Zgorge.info.

When I moved back home to The Dalles in 2001 after living for years in Portland, I noticed that when it came to the internet websites, it seemed the Columbia Gorge stopped at Hood River. I also found it frustrating that you could find photos about local attractions, or text about them, but rarely find photos and text combined. I wanted to provide a broader picture of the Mid Columbia, that includes all the smaller communities which may not have the resources to develop an internet presence. I also wanted to provide a resource for rural residents who were seeking information and services, and to create a platform for small, medium, or even home-based micro-businesses in rural areas to market their products on the internet. Along the way I have tried to share my years of accumulated marketing information. I created A2ZGorge.Info as a means to provide useful information about the area for everyone who has an interest in discovering more about the Mid Columbia, and to celebrate our local region, the Mid Columbia River Gorge! This giant, rambling website is completely a labor of love.
