Wishram, Washington

Klickitat County

The unincorporated community of Wishram is located in central Klickitat County, just south of Washington Highway 14. The community developed as a regional switching station for the Burlington Northern Railroad, with an adjacent rail bridge across the Columbia River to Celilo. Wishram was formerly known as Falls Bridge, since this rail bridge crossed near the historic Celilo Falls (since inundated by construction of The Dalles Dam). The name "Wishram" is adapted from a former Native American village located downstream, at present-day Horsethief Lake State Park.
Community council meets the first Monday of each month, 7 p.m. in the Wishram Fire Hall.
